Abstract

Recent advances in microfluidics and microfabrication technology resulted in a new product line of analytical instruments marketed as microfluidic analyzers. Indeed, miniaturization of analytical instruments and the use of microfabricated “chips” is regarded as an obvious step in achieving fast analyses, reduction of reagent and sample consumption as well as decreasing the cost per analysis. This review covers recent progress in the development and applications of electrophoretic and chromatographic systems based on microfluidic techniques.
