Abstract

Mycoparasitism, the ability to parasitize fungal hosts, is an important mechanism useful in plant biocontrol. Pythium species shows the ability of mycoparasitism on pathogenic fungi invading not only plant hosts. Due to this fact, the oomycete genus Pythium has a potential to be used in the development of biocontrol agents for the treatment of fungal infections.
