Abstract

Nowadays, various products of nanotechnologies belong to intensively investigated materials due to their unique properties and many potential applications, for example in electronics, medicine or in imaging methods. However, along with the research of their useful properties, there is a growing necessity of the research and evaluation of their impact on the environment and of possible harmful effects for organisms. This review summarizes possible toxic effects of developed nanomaterials on environment and living organisms. It deals also with their possible bioaccumulation in organisms, toxicity and mechanisms of toxic impacts.
