Abstract

Framework for the 21st Century Learning represents the core of basic knowledge, the 21st century themes, skills for learning, such as critical thinking, solving problems, communication, collaboration, skills for life, such as responsibility, autonomy, flexibility, and skills relating to ICT. The content of Education for the 21st Century must include, besides the core of basic knowledge, also 21st century topics, related to solving the most critical problems facing humanity, such as Energy Sources, Water Quality, etc. The results of the research of the applications of inquiry-based learning (IBL) and project-based learning (PBL) show their effectiveness in raising the level of conceptual understanding and the development of scientific skills and skills focused on learning and thinking.
