An Overview of Hazardous Chemicals and Chemical Preparations in the Czech Republic

Abstract

The new legislation of the Czech Republic concerning prevention of major accidents in large factories and plants came into force on 29 January 2000. Some aspects of the synergistic and cumulative consequences of major accidents are discussed including several recommendations. Cooperation between authorities and the public on the local level is described, with some ideas of improving communication. The survey could be a basis for emergency planning and management in the Czech Republic.
