Abstract

The criteria were derived for simple protolytic equilibria of weak bases and hydrolyzed salts in aqueous solutions. The approximative formulae (simpler equations) can be used if the analytical concentration of a protolyte is higher than the limiting (critical) concentration calculated from the derived criterial equation. The concentration ranges in which it is appropriate to use various mathematical types of equations or the simplest formula are calculated and discussed.
