Entrainment Velocities of Calcined Limestone Particles from Fluidized Bed

Abstrakt

Measurements of the entrainment (terminal) velocities of particles in calcination of high-grade limestone were performed using dry air under ambient conditions. Experimental runs were conducted with particles of mean sieve size 110450 ??????m in a glass fluidization column (ID 85 mm). Thus the long-neglected Abraham approach was modified and employed to regress the obtained experimental results. A set of predictive, well-founded correlations have been developed that makes it possible to easily estimate the effective drag coefficient, entrainment velocity and/or diameter (sieve size) of rounded particles being just entrained from the fluidized bed. The proposed formulae are explicit in their form that entirely eliminates the necessity of any trial-and-error computations.
