Abstrakt

Tumor markers are an important part of diagnosis and monitoring the progress of treatment for many types of cancer. The number of discovered biomarkers is currently growing also thanks to the improving analytical methods. Clinically used as well as newly discovered biomarkers may contribute to the early diagnosis of a cancer, which increases the patient's chance of recovery. The limiting factor is the lack of so-called point-of-care tests, particularly due to often low selectivity and specificity of the markers. Recently so-called multiplex assays that are able to detect a larger amount of the tumor markers of the type of disease and thus increase the specificity of the test are developed. This article briefly describes the clinically used tumor markers for which there is a test as lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA).
